Steel – The Backbone of Railway Tracks
According to statistics from the World Steel Association, the total length of railway tracks worldwide currently exceeds 1 million kilometers, with the majority made from steel, highlighting the essential role of steel in shaping the global railway network.
As a material with high load-bearing capacity, corrosion resistance, and exceptional durability, steel makes railway tracks both lightweight and long-lasting. The steel industry has continuously advanced with the development of high-strength, heavy-duty steels that help reduce fuel consumption and maintenance costs, enabling the transportation of longer trains with greater load capacity, while ensuring ongoing reliability and safety for rail transport.
In recent years, Vietnam's railway sector has been modernizing the national transportation infrastructure. The introduction of three urban rail lines running on electric trains—Cát Linh–Hà Đông, Nhổn–Hà Nội, and the Bến Thành–Suối Tiên Metro—has significantly transformed public transportation habits, contributing to the creation of a "Green, Clean" sustainable environment in two of the country’s busiest cities.
