Thủ Thiêm Tunnel
The Thủ Thiêm Tunnel is an underground traffic project beneath the Saigon River that connects District 1 and District 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, opening a new era for urban transportation.
Designed in a U-shape, the tunnel features a two-way traffic system completely separated to reduce congestion on surface roads. With a total length of 1,490 meters, the submerged tunnel section stretches 370 meters and is 24 meters deep beneath the river. It is divided into 4 tunnel segments, each weighing 27,000 tons. The reinforced concrete structure ensures superior strength, providing maximum durability and safety for millions of vehicles that pass through daily.
Thủ Thiêm Tunnel is recognized as the most modern river-crossing tunnel in Southeast Asia, symbolizing the strength, determination of the Vietnamese people, and the nation's aspiration to reach further.
